Bump Update #10

*I should note that this is just now showing up in google reader but is actually last week's bump update!*

Woke up this morning feeling lousy, really hoping this is just a brief blip in my third trimester and not how these remaining weeks are going to go.

How far along: 3rd Trimester

Weight gain: 18 pounds

Maternity Clothes:  Still making my regular clothes work.

Gender: Girl!

Name: it's a surprise!

Movement: Most days she's all over the place but she has dropped SO low that I think it's started to restrict some of her movement just a bit.

Cravings: Fruit smoothie have been sounding awfully good lately, though I have yet to indulge.

Sleep: I am choosing to blame last night's lousy sleep for the misery I have been feeling today.

# of Days since m/s has hit: Still holding out on this, one of the "perks" I guess for her being so low.

What I'm most looking forward to after the baby (besides the obvious): no more worry about this symptom or that symptom, is she coming too early, and mostly OMG WHY IS BABY STUFF SO EXPENSIVE AND WE STILL HAVE SO MUCH WE NEED TO GET!

Last baby items purchased: well last week's order from Next Direct never went through (either time it was placed) and I decided to take that as a warning sign that maybe it wasn't meant to be (that and some not so positive feedback from asrubin10's comment on my last bump update).  But never fear, Diapers.com with 25% off clothing, Janie and Jack's end of season sale, Gap Baby's 50% off sale and Tea Collection 75% off ALL came through for the win and I started the process of stocking up on newborn and 0-6m basics that she'll need.  At least she won't be coming home naked now.

Other Craziness: We have yet to purchase a carseat or stroller or really any other larger baby item that she is going to need before she makes her appearance.  And there isn't going to be a shower putting a dent in these purchases either so I'm feeling the pressure to figure out what we are really going to need to make life go smoothly the first month or so and how we are going to pay for it all.

Bump Update #8

Two bump updates back to back.  I had to catch up before I got behind forever.  Brent was sweet enough to steal me away to the beach for Father's Day weekend for some much needed rest & recovery but boy it sure made coming back to reality pretty tough.  I know, I know...it's a tough life I lead.

How far along: 3rd Trimester

Weight gain: 17 pounds

Maternity Clothes:  Nope.  That pile you see on the chair every week is my "stash" that I bought thinking I'd be in maternity clothes a lot sooner.  It's still sitting there waiting.

Gender: Girl!

Name: it's a surprise!

Movement: Today she was so crazy I had to stop to capture it on video a few times.  I've started playing a game with her where I'll poke her or rest my hand on top of her and she'll kick back.  It's quite entertaining.  I feel like I am really starting to see her personality.  :)

Cravings: I look forward to a small ice cream treat ALL.DAY.LONG.  It's a really good thing that I work outside of the home away from the temptation of my freezer!

Sleep: Still not too great, but its a little better than last week.

# of Days since m/s has hit: been a couple of weeks now, very grateful for this.

What I'm most looking forward to after the baby (besides the obvious): no longer being in limbo.  Right now it feels like we are just far enough away that it's too early to start tackling my last several big projects but they are still looming over my head along with a fast approaching D-day.

Last baby items purchased: placed my first order with Next Direct (I think....their website and customer service were timing out) for some cute little sleepers and leggings for Mizz RP.  I'm interested to see what sort of quality it is!

Other Craziness: When we were down at the beach, watching all the little kiddies run around, it sort of hit us that next summer we will be those parents hauling aaaaaall that crap down to the beach and running around after a little one.  Totally surreal.  I'm hoping she enjoys the sand and water cause I already have the cutest little red and white polka dot swimsuit for her. :)

Bump Update #7

Wasn't sure this update was going to happen!  It's been a super tough week and I'm still pretty worn down and recovering.  Hoping I get my pregnancy mojo back soon.

How far along: 3rd Trimester

Weight gain: 16 pounds

Maternity Clothes:  None yet, in the above photo I'm wearing one of the new items I got recently and it's incredibly comfortable.  Wish I could get away with wearing it every day!

Gender: Girl!

Name: it's a surprise!

Movement: She goes through spurts, lately she likes to stretch out on her tippy-toes and when I am sitting and squishing her is when she gives her biggest performances. :)

Cravings:With the on and off heat its been mostly cold stuff that's easy to grab and doesn't require much thought.

Sleep: Been rough since the accident, my back really took a beating and the pain in my lower abdomen can be obnoxious at times.

# of Days since m/s has hit: Have had an upset stomach on and off for a few days but thankfully no puking.

What I'm most looking forward to after the baby (besides the obvious): skinny clothes! :)  pencil skirts....jeans....all my cute little shorts.

Last baby items purchased: A friend offered up their Random House employee discount and Random House happens to own Little Golden Books, Dr. Seuss, Berenstein Bears and Little Critter (among many others) so I was like a kid in a candy shop.  Definitely placed a starter order for RP's library.

Other Craziness: Little girl needs to stop messing with my bladder, I've had to start doing kegels while prodding her just to get her to move.

Maternity Friendly Shopping

Can I just reiterate how grateful I am for all the tunics and maxi dresses/skirts available this season?  J.Crew in particular has been hitting it out of the park.  And I am in love with the new smaller Elle and Sky earrings by Kendra Scott.  These are a few of the items I've been fawning over this summer.

More Maternity Friendly Favorites

Clearly I am still loving stripes!  :)  And accessories, at least those always fit.

For the items I ordered, I was able to stick to pre-pregnancy size due to the cut or stretchiness of the material.  I am thinking a lot of it will be perfect for after the baby comes.  Comfortable, stretchy, machine washable...some of the tops may not be the easiest to breast-feed in but at least I'll have comfortable options that fit.  You might even see some of these items pop up in our maternity shoot!

Slow but Steady

This weekend was a bit of a busy one, though I tried to relax as much as possible around what we already had planned.  Our maternity shoot was Saturday morning and required a 6am wake-up call for me.  This wouldn't have been so bad if Brent and I hadn't gotten sucked into a Duck Dynasty marathon Friday night,  :) but a 2 hour afternoon nap afterwards helped immensely.  I wonder how many more of those I'll get?

I have still been continuing to have quite a bit more contractions than I ever had before the accident but we met with my Doctor on Friday and thankfully my body isn't showing any other "signs" of impending labor.  It just may be that this is my bodies mode from here on out until she comes.  Thankfully the majority of them are no longer painful and the bruising on my abdomen isn't quite as bad.  For the first couple of days after the accident, it felt like someone had punched me hard repeatedly in my lower abdomen...the contractions from Wednesday sure gave my body an intense workout.  I'm also still quite a bit stiff but I am hopeful that this will go away with time and maybe I can get back to how "easy" my pregnancy was comparatively pre-accident.  Wistful thinking perhaps?

Anyway, there is nothing like having some incredible photographers fawning over your belly and telling you how small and adorable you are to make you feel a little bit better.  :)  We just heart the Regetis.  I wish they were closer so they could come do a shoot in the nursery after RP is born!  I wasn't really feeling up to spending a lot of time styling what we were going to wear for the shoot but thankfully I was able to rely mostly on some planning I had done earlier in the week.  No maternity wear yet so I stuck mostly to raiding my closet for stuff we already had and then raided a few boxes of stuff I had ordered for the summer for a couple extra options.

Everyone has told me that being heavily pregnant in the summer is the hardest and I am curious how those of you feel who may have experienced both.  While I have found it is a lot harder to breath when it's super hot and humid and my contractions are much more intense (not to mention it's tougher to stay hydrated), the easy-breezy summer clothing and abundance of fresh fruits and vegetables have certainly been wonderful thus far.  I know I would have been wearing maternity clothes weeks ago if I was dealing with the winter cold.

An Update

Just a quick update as I've gotten lots of emails/texts/tweets checking in on us.  For those of you who didn't know, I was in an accident yesterday-rear-ended by a driver going quite fast on my way home from work while I was stopped in traffic.

We are doing ok.  I was immediately sent to labor and delivery and was having a lot of contractions.  They tried a few bags of fluids but it wasn't slowing them down enough so they gave me a shot to get my uterus to relax.  One of those fun medicines that makes your heart race out of control and gives you uncontrollable body shakes.  Good news is, it eventually worked and all my other lab/test results came back with nothing further discouraging so after several hours of monitoring, we were sent home.

We got back home super early this morning and I have been resting (and peeing constantly) since.  Contractions have started back up on and off today but we are hoping with time they will settle back down as my body recovers.  I am extremely sore and achy but I suppose that comes with the territory.  Just as long as the baby is ok!

On a rather humorous side note, when we got home last night, I made the mistake of passing in front of the mirror and was horrified how puffy I was!  I decided to weigh myself and the fluids they pumped me full of made me gain nearly 6 pounds!  I am hoping this will clear up and that I will be feeling up to our maternity shoot on Saturday.

Thank you everyone for your prayers, they mean so much to both Brent and I and little RP, we are really hoping she gets the memo that she still needs to stay in there and plump up a bit more!

Bump Update #6

Baby girl definitely had a major growth spurt, regular clothes are definitely fitting a bit different.  Makes me wonder how much longer they will make it!

How far along: 3rd Trimester

Weight gain: 15-16 pounds

Maternity Clothes:  Nope, in fact I just picked up a couple of non-maternity items that will accomodate quite a bit of bump growth and still fit fine after she gets here.

Gender: Girl!

Name: it's a surprise!

Movement: Roly Poly is all over the place these days, she's performing for me as I type!

Cravings:Can't really think of anything in particular, most food is relatively appealing these days. :)

Sleep: Still pretty good.  The pillows are making all the difference at this point.

# of Days since m/s has hit:A few close calls but nothing since last Tuesday.

What I'm most looking forward to after the baby (besides the obvious): full access to my wardrobe again.

Last baby items purchased: Couple of monogrammed totes to cart around all her stuff. :)

Other Craziness: Summer is one of those seasons that seems to pass extra quickly.  I can't believe how fast time seems to be going.  With every day that passes, I think of another couple of things that I need to add to the list.  Currently at the top of my list: finding a newborn photographer close by. AP had the nerve to take maternity leave from little.joys.photography....

Monday Misc

A bit of Monday Misc for today.  I can't believe we are already nearly a week into June!!!  This past weekend was one of our last weekends in awhile that had nothing "official" on the agenda, somehow though we always manage to stay busy!

  • I've been hitting up the local goodwill here and there recently and have scored quite a few Tupperware and Pyrex pieces that will be perfect for freezer cooking.  For the rest of the my freezer plan, I am going to use Ziplocs and lots of saran wrap and foil!

  • I am still doing the shred along with walking a couple hilly miles with Hubs a couple of times a week.  It's kind of funny how much more cumbersome it gets as the belly gets bigger

  • I have taken to making monthly to-do lists for Hubs and I to tackle.  It's definitely helping my forgetful prego memory and it's been very helpful for knocking out those things that get bumped from one weekly to-do list to the next.  In May, I got a ton of stuff done that had been hanging around on my list for months!  And already in June, we've tackled some big stuff.  Feels great getting this stuff crossed off the list before it gets too hot.

  • I am pretty sure Ms RP had a major growth spurt from Saturday to Sunday because Saturday I felt fantastic and energetic and small and didn't feel like I went overboard doing anything in particular but Sunday...Woah. Sunday I woke up feeling awful and felt that way for most of the day. Achy, trouble breathing (while at the same time she was stretched out and dancing waaaay low), so exhausted I felt like I had to lay down every couple of minutes, light-headed and just plain old big. Today I feel much more "normal" but my belly is definitely bigger. I think if we have another baby I will measure my belly's circumference each week to have a better gauge.

  • I've picked up some totally adorable non-maternity pieces in my pre-pregnancy size in the past couple of weeks that I can still get lots of wear out of now.  I am excited that I'll still be able to wear them later on.  Makes it so much easier to spend the money, especially as I get closer and closer to her arrival.

  • Speaking of which, my only goal for Sunday was to go through my clothes (new stuff and stuff I already had) and finalize what I was wearing for the photo shoot.  I felt like I had nothing to wear but I ended up being able to put together 12 totally adorable outfits and now I have to narrow it down.  Hubs has been most unhelpful because he liked them all!  I put them together in polyvore but that's totally not helping me narrow it down.  I may have to solicit some feedback here. :)
