12 Days of Christmas

This year Hubs and I decided to give gifts a little differently. Our holidays are so busy each year with such large immediate and extended families that it can be tough to have time to exchange gifts between the two of us and have it be relaxing while we do it.

Instead, this year we kicked off the gift exchanging on December 12th. Each day we exchanged 1 gift for each of us (the majority of which were supposed to be smaller less expensive gifts but we were each allowed a few passes). The last 12th day of Christmas ended on Christmas Eve where our traditional exchange has always been Christmas PJs for each other, jewelry for me and some yummy food for Hubs (I am well aware I got the better end of the deal on this one). Christmas Day we reserved that for a couple "big gifts" that are generally not surprises and are joint gifts or things we need/want for the house.

I hesitated to post this because I don't want to seem brag-y and if I knew how to password protect a post I would. However, I don't have the time to research how to do that and this is the best place for me to record it to remember it in the years ahead. So instead I'll post it on the weekend when most of you aren't reading anyway. :) Feel free to skip this post if you think recording Christmas-y gifts reads as bragging. I think many view it like facebook stalking & snooping in other people's medicine cabinets, as humans we just love being in other people's business and trash-talking it to others. Since I already know the trash-talking & gossip takes place whether I like it or not, go ahead and snoop away. ;)

Day 1 - Brent got me the coolest crock pot that I have been lusting after. Perfect for parties! And I got him a collection of some of his favorite Christmas movies from his childhood.

Day 2 - I received a bluetooth to replace my old one that has been dead for months and Brent received a new men's devotional book.

Day 3 - I received 4.0 Under Amour base shirt (coziest thing ever) and Brent received a set of ceramic coffee mugs (actually he ended up with 4 coffee mugs but that's a story for a different day).

Day 4 - I received a set of the All Clad standard measuring cups/utensils and Brent received a few pairs of lounge pants.

Day 5 - I received a calzone press and Brent received several seasons of Seinfeld.

Day 6 - I received the 4.0 Under Amour base leggings to go with my shirt from Day 3 and Brent received Taboo the bible edition (gotta say the bible version is 10 times more challenging).

Day 7 - I received a couple sets of the Reindeer plates from Pottery Barn (love these!) and Brent received Apples to Apples Bible edition and a box full of Gotoobs in various sizes for all our upcoming trips.

Day 8 - I received a tortilla press (I've been told homemade is millions times better than store bought, I'm excited to test this theory out) and Brent received a digital photo frame for his office.

Day 9 - I received a set of 4 kitchen ornaments for my kitchen Christmas tree (sadly no picture) and Brent received several Under Amour catalyst shirts.

Day 10 - I received the white North Face Osito Fleece jacket and Brent received the collection of Bones seasons that we did not have.

Day 11 - I received a set of the mini colanders from Anthro and Brent received Outburst Bible edition.

And lastly on day 12 - I received some gorgeous Tiffany's jewelry and Jcrew pj pants and Brent received peppermint bark (our favorite) and matching Jcrew pj pants.

It was super fun opening a present each night. Some nights/mornings were rushed but many nights we curled up with hot chocolate and popcorn and watched Christmas movies. It was such a fun way to get in the Christmas mood.

I love this idea! I'm so glad you shared it! I know how you shop for deals so I'm sure you found awesome deals on everything you bought each other so I don't think it's braggy! We've been doing 4 things based on the need, want, read, wear theme because we usually buy the big things at other times during the year so we cut back at Christmas. I think this idea would still be fun for us because we would just set our budget, know how many gifts to buy, and then go for it!
