Weekend Recap

Well it was an amazing weekend, although one that I would prefer to not duplicate in it's entirety. :) I'll have pictures soon but in the mean time:

1. We made fondue, LOTS of fondue, and it was heavenly! We made up our own recipe and this one is going in the books, it was to die for! So good in fact that the family insisted that we make it for them when we got home Sunday (we obliged since it meant we could have more!).

2. We cut out all electronics for 24 hours so we could just spend time together. It was weird, but strangely liberating!

3. We made three different meals and ate them ALL Saturday night, in between playing games of Scrabble. On the menu was chicken pomodoro, mediterranean fondue (which included fresh panera bread dippers), garlic roasted chicken with ceasar salads and delicious apple bars. To say we were full was an understatement but we just couldn't stop eating, it was all so good and so fun to make!

4. Sunday our photo shoot had to rescheduled due to the fourth day in a row of solid rain. We were disappointed about not doing it but the thrill of freezing (literally) temperatures, wind, soggy ground and rain wasn't exactly there. Oh and did I mention it snowed yesterday morning? In the MIDDLE OF OCTOBER! Common to all of you folks that live farther up North or out in the Midwest but this is MD, where we are supposed to enjoy all FOUR seasons! This is one of the many reasons why I was happy to move out of Boston! I do love snow but I hate ice and slippery roads, so I prefer snow when I can be at home, NOT when I have to be out driving in it. Ugh, ok, end of tirade. :) We're going to try again for the photo shoot next weekend!

5. Did I mention it rained for 4 days straight? I opened my trunk yesterday to discover something horribly wrong must have happened to my trunk seal. My trunk was filled with mold and my spare tire submerged in several inches of water.

6. Somehow we avoided any leaks in the house from the rain, however this morning I awoke to the sound of water flooding out of the ceiling. My husband has never seen me leap from the bed that fast and I doubt he'll ever see it again. Needless to say, we were very late to work and currently every towel in the house is being run through the spin cycle on the washer, fans, blow dryers and dehumidifiers are on every where in hopes of preventing mold build-up and we will be purchasing a new toilet stopper today. ick....

7. My sister was officially diagnosed from Swine flu today. She is the sixth sibling to become ill but the first one who had difficulty breathing and had to be taken to the doctors. We think it hit her lungs so fast because she was hospitalized when only a few weeks old with a very bad case of Pneumonia and we almost lost her. Anyway, we have no idea now if the other five kids have officially had it as we didn't take them to be tested. Jury is still out on that one but even if they did, there are still 4 other individuals that have yet to get it. Now I'm having my doubts as to whether or not I had it... I didn't think I did but apparently there are no other major flu strains going around (according to the doctor's office) so there's a good chance I had it...I guess we'll see?

There you have it! Our weekend in a nutshell! The hubs and I tremendously enjoyed our weekend away and it has just made us long for our own place even more. Our house and kids is probably what we spent the most time talking about over the weekend, oh and also if "purples" is a word... (I vote yes as it got me a triple word score!) Have you taken my poll yet? I would LOVE it if you did! It's my first one and it would be so sad to not hear from all of you! I have some very fun surprises in store for this blog very soon, I'm excited to share it with all of you guys!

I just love those types of weekends. We love to stay home and play scrabble and cook dinner for ourselves too...there is something so romantic about it...at least, until he beats me at scrabble which is every time! Yummm fondue sounds delish...i think i may have to try that next week!
