Anniversary Dinner Suggestions & Poll

Today we are experiencing a high of 42...cloudy, foggy and lots of rain. A perfect day to stay at home and snuggle up in a blanket and read, watch tv, craft, bake or nap. To bad I am doing none of those. I do really enjoy my job and am super grateful to have it, especially with the economy still what it is but some days it is harder to drag myself from bed at an ungodly hour and drive in then others (who am I kidding, it's always painful dragging myself from bed at an ungodly hour). Today was just one of those days. The hubby had a hockey game that went super late last night and it resulted in much less sleep than my body needs to have. I'm really feeling it today. As a side note, I was the only person in attendance to cheer for his hockey team last night. He scored three goals (should have been four) and had an assist! I was so proud!

Our anniversary is this weekend and we are super excited to take our couple photos. Hopefully it won't get rained out. As of right now, they are calling for solid rain and low 40 temps for the next couple of days...we'll see about Sunday. Originally we planned on going to Disney World for our anniversary, buuuuuuut plans had to be changed when the hubby switched to a new job so now we are going to Disney in early March, BEFORE the spring break crew hits it. We booked the tickets last night (courtesy of free travel vouchers from our honeymoon) and I'm really hoping it will still be chilly enough to warrant some of Disney's fabulous hot chocolate! Our new anniversary plans constitute a weekend away in a borrowed home where we plan to go all out and cook our very own romantic dinner. We haven't been able to cook just the two of us in our own kitchen now for a year and a half and so I'm really looking forward to it. Any suggestions for a menu? We are definitely going to make cheese fondue (and maybe chocolate too) as the husband gifted me the cookbook to our favorite fondue restaurant for my birthday. Any other romantic suggestions? We've been debating using some old favorites but can't decide if it's too boring to use a recipe that we've already made plenty of times. Any and all suggestions will be considered!

As for anniversary gifts, the hubby and I decided to do the traditional anniversary gifts as part of our gifts to each other. Paper is the first anniversary gift and I would love to post my genius idea that I've had cooking for awhile but on the off chance that the hubs decides to meander over here, I'll have to wait until after the weekend to post. And don't be jealous but we also bought one of these for each of us:

Only THE most comfortable thing ever! Folks this beats the snuggie and the slanket! It has a hood! It's from LLBean and uh-mazing! *sigh* this weather makes me want to put it on and never take it off. It's marketed as a man's robe but I fell in love with it long before the hubs did. In fact if you look at the reviews on the LLBean site, you'll see that most of them are from women buying it in a XS and S!

In other news, I would looooove to hear from you guys on what you'd like to read about first! I have a whole backlog of posts to write and post but I'd love to know what you guys would like to read! Please take my poll on the upper right side of the page and don't forget to leave me anniversary dinner suggestions!

our anniversary is coming up soon too, our is the 20th!

For anniversary dinner I'd say stick with the fondue theme and do cheese, chocolate, and maybe even a meat sauce very romantic and slightly seductive. :)

Have fun and Happy Early Anniversary!!

Happy anniversary!

I always think of steak for anniversaries...or prime rib or something like that.

I SO know what you mean about work. I am having to force myself not to call in sick today--hey, I am coughing like crazy, but I could definitely make it through the day.

Happy anniversary!

We usually do steak with a red wine sauce for special occasions. Not hard (or time consuming) to make, but a little more upscale than what we usually make.

Hey Jen, happy anniversary! Disney world would have been wonderful...we did that for our honeymoon. So fantastic!

I LOVE to cook and have gobs recipes, if you ever need one give me a holler. I would suggest my favorite chicken florentine with polenta :)

Alisha said you're doing a give away soon, so I am officially becoming a follower of your blog. :)

Hope you have a fab weekend! xox

Happy Anniversary to you & your hubby Jen! Your weekend away sounds so romantic. As far as menu ideas- if you are doing chocolate fondu, marshmallows, strawberries, and pineapple are my favorite for traditional chocolate fondu.
The robes look fabulous. Need to go check those out.
I always look forward to reading your posts- especially the letters. I am so thankful for Mia Joie & Jessica, that is how I found your blog many weeks back.
Happy weekend & Happy Anniversary. :)
